Tourist's from all over the
world enjoy the hospitality
of the wonderful Embera
people of Panama!
From beautiful,
beaming women to
cute little girls to
friendly warriors, the
Embera tribe of
Panama love to share
their culture with
people from other
countries.
This new village of Embera Quera is 20 minutes from the Port where many cruise ships dock. The Embera people hope that soon they will have better lives as they entertain tourists in this new location.

At the old site at Parara Puru, the
musicians greet visitors who have come
across the lake in authentic dugout canoes
These kids are smiling and ready to greet the
tourists visiting the village. Embera kids are so
friendly and fun!
The Embera are famous for their tatoo
work. The dye is made from the jagua
fruit found in the jungle. It stains the skin
and lasts a good two weeks! Most
tourists want a sample of this Embera
artwork to wear home!
After demonstrating their Embera music and
dance, they get many tourists to join in! This is
at Parara Puru, the other village.
The Embera are not only great hosts, but
also quite skilled at carving, basket
weaving, and beadwork. Here are many little
carvings made from the tagua nut. They
especially look cool as necklaces!
Here are more crafts from the Embera people...
proud of their craft work, body tatoos, and
colorful clothing. But really, best of all are their
smiles and genuine enjoyment of sharing their
culture with others.

Take a look at some of the fantastic bead
work and carvings done by these people.
This photo is of Bula
Flaco, ready and
waiting for a busload of
tourists! Soon they will
be wisked away upriver
for a grand experience
in the beautiful jungles
of Panama!
